50 YEARS AT CHARLTON
23 April 2027 will mark a truly historic milestone as Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway celebrates 50 years since the gates first opened at the Charlton venue.
On 23 April 1977, a new chapter in Australian speedway history began when racing moved to Charlton, creating what would become one of the country's most iconic dirt racing venues.
Throughout the 2026-27 season, fans can expect a memorable season kicking off with Thunder on the Downs on 18, 19, 25 & 26 September, before hosting the NuTrend Homes Australian Sprintcar Championship on 20 & 21 November. The official 50th Birthday celebration will take place on 23 & 24 April when Sprintcars contest the $10,000 to win Golden Jubilee 50 lapper alongside the Super Sedan Ian Boettcher Classic, two classes that featured on opening night all those years ago. The event will be a special celebration recognising the track's rich history.
Here's to 50 years of speedway racing at Charlton... and the next 50 to come.
